UPDATE: George W. Bush is taking prescription drugs to control depression and "erratic behavior" according to Capitol Hill Blue today (July 28, 2004): "We have to face the very real possibility that the President of the United States is loony tunes," says a GOP consultant.
Is George W. Bush losing it? There's that book "Bush on the Couch" that claims that Bush is a paranoid megalomaniac with a sadistic streak, an Oedipal complex, and all kinds of problems stemming from an untreated past drug and alcohol abuse problem.
But according to Capitol Hill Blue, even Bush's aides in the White House say his behavior has become erratic and spooky.
In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as "enemies of the state."...[A] picture of an administration under siege has emerged, led by a man who declares his decisions to be "God’s will" and then tells aides to "fuck over" anyone they consider to be an opponent of the administration.
Yikes.
I'm not sure I buy all that about Bush's behavior; nevertheless, I bet we get some bizarre tell-alls after he gets the boot. (Knock wood.)

I can't read more than a few pages of the book without wanting to hide under the bed, call my shrink, and double my meds. I don't go in for books analyzing people the author had never treated/meet but since I dislike the megalomanic in chief, I gave this author a pass.
Dr. Strangelove and Raymond Shaw weren't that frightening.

Sounds a bit like Nixon, only without the charm.

Why do we have to choose between stupid and crazy?

I think that when this came out (two months ago), there was discussion of its being a spoof. don't recall the sources or discussion, but take it with a grain of salt, however tasty...

CHB is standing by their story, but all of the sources were anonymous, so some doubt is warranted.
Many things that end up being true have sounded like spoofs or conspiracy theories at first. I've learned to suspend my disbelief.
